About Bali

Bali runs at two speeds: the beach-club coast around Seminyak and Canggu, and the slower, greener interior around Ubud. There are no year-round nonstops from Delhi, so build a connection through Singapore, Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok into your plan. Six days covers one coast base plus Ubud comfortably.

Highlights

Ubud rice terraces; Uluwatu cliff temple and kecak dance; Seminyak and Canggu beach clubs; Nusa Penida day trip; Mount Batur sunrise trek

📍 Where to Go

  • Seminyak / Canggu — beach clubs, cafés, surf. The social base.
  • Ubud — rice terraces, temples, yoga and jungle. Cooler and greener.
  • Uluwatu / Bukit — clifftop temples and the best surf breaks.
  • Nusa Penida / Lembongan — dramatic day trips by fast boat.

🎯 Things to Do

  • Kecak fire dance at Uluwatu temple at sunset
  • Kelingking Beach viewpoint on Nusa Penida
  • Sunrise trek up Mount Batur
  • Tegalalang rice terraces and a swing
  • Balinese massage and spa afternoon

🚌 Transportation

There is no public transport worth using. Hire a car with driver for around ₹3,000–₹4,000 a full day — this is the standard way to cover Bali and far better value than several taxis. Gojek and Grab scooters are cheapest for short hops but are banned in some tourist areas. Traffic is severe: Seminyak to Ubud can take two hours for 35 km, so plan two areas rather than daily commutes.

🍽️ Best Restaurants

Warungs serve nasi campur and mie goreng for ₹150–₹300; cafés in Canggu and Ubud charge Western prices. Try babi guling (suckling pig) and bebek betutu — though note Bali is Hindu and beef is uncommon, unlike the rest of Indonesia. Vegetarian and vegan food is exceptionally easy here. Drink only bottled water, including for brushing teeth.

🏨 Best Hotels

Seminyak for restaurants and beach clubs, Canggu for a younger crowd and surf, Ubud for nature and wellness, Uluwatu for clifftop luxury, Sanur for families and calm water. Villas with private pools are often cheaper than hotels for groups.

🛡️ Safety & Travel Tips

Generally very safe. Watch for: scooter accidents (the top cause of tourist injury — wear a helmet, and check your travel insurance covers two-wheelers), monkey theft at Uluwatu and the Monkey Forest, and card-skimming at standalone ATMs. Rip currents are strong on the west coast; swim between the flags. Do not touch or feed the monkeys.
